The long ride towards the Chinese border on the Russian train was enlivened by a cast of interesting characters: the very odd Russian train crew, fellow passengers, and North Korean border guards who are surprisingly human. The window afforded views of the countryside and glimpses of real life in the DPRK.
The Russian tea and dark chocolate were the only sustenance I could get my hands on. They were delicious.
